With more than thirty years of professional experience, Gonzalo Yelpo is a recognized practitioner in Aviation and Transportation Law in Uruguay and across the region. His Law Degree from the University of the Republic (Uruguay) and his Executive MBA from IAE Business School provide him with a strategic perspective that extends beyond legal analysis, positioning him as a key advisor in corporate decision-making and business development within highly regulated industries.
He has led and advised companies in the aviation, transportation, and logistics sectors in complex operations, strategic transactions, and regulatory processes. He began his specialization as Director of Legal and Aeropolitical Affairs of PLUNA Líneas Aéreas Uruguayas (1998–2005), where he was responsible for the company’s legal strategy in a highly complex regulatory and political environment.
Internationally, he served for more than fifteen years as Legal Director and General Counsel of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), based in Miami (2007–2022), overseeing the legal, corporate, and regulatory frameworks of the aviation industry in the region.
He currently leads the international projection of Yelpo & Facal through active participation in global legal networks, serving as Uruguay’s representative to L2B Aviation and as a member of Prae Legal and ELBA Global. His work has been consistently recognized by Lexology Index as a Thought Leader and Global Leader in Aviation, and he has received the Client Choice award for excellence in client service and value creation.

Awarded by the Cámara Uruguaya de Turismo, the Premio Sol al Turismo is the highest distinction granted by Uruguay’s tourism sector. Julio Facal received this award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of tourism in the country.
